Official Tournament Statement
United Sports would like to thank all participants in our 2009 All American Showcase-Champions Cup Lacrosse tournament for their patience and support through some challenging weather circumstances. For the first time in the 5 years that we have run this tournament, the event was suspended and the remaining games were cancelled late Saturday, June 13, 2009, due to the heavy rain in Downingtown that afternoon and evening. With the amount of rain received in June, the additional rain on Saturday made all grass fields unplayable for the entire weekend forcing the cancellation of the event. According to our agreement with the IWLCA all Champions Division Games MUST be played at the United Sports complex. Equal playing time for teams was our mission. With only 2 turf fields at the complex there was no way to fairly handle the amount of games needed.
We are currently in the process of starting the refund paperwork. This process will take several weeks to complete. We will post an update on the status of refunds no later than Friday, July 10.
